PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sydney/Eora, NSW - David Jones' Spring Flower Show has returned for its 66th year with over 30 floral installations, more than 100,000 individual blooms and 50 different species of flowers on display at its iconic Elizabeth Street Flagship.

The flower show, in various iterations, has an 82-year history, first starting with a simple act. In the 1920s, staff would bring in flowers from their gardens and place them on counters to celebrate the beginning of spring. This eventually grew into a more formalised event, first as a festival and then in 1985, becoming the annual David Jones.

The David Jones Spring Flower Show became a major annual promotion in 1985. Every September since has seen the Elizabeth Street store abloom with specially designed window displays and installations. Prepared over the course of months, each spectacle supports growers from across the land and attracts visitors from hundreds of kilometres away.

David Jones has just unveiled the glamorous annual Flower Show at its Elizabeth Street flagship store in Sydney, this time, with a permanent rooftop apiary comprising five beehives and approximately 400,000 bees. The hives, managed by the local business The Urban Beehive, are being populated by local New South.
